The Novas

The Novas were formed in Dallas in 1963, performing at school functions and parties, until they were taken into studios in 1966 to record. They played regular weekend shows at places like The Studio Club, LouAnns, Market Hall, Apparel Mart and The Box, as well as touring all over Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and even Memphis. They opened for national acts like Paul Revere and the Raiders, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, the Blues Magoos, Ike and Tina Turner, The Spencer Davis Group, The Outsiders, and the 13th Floor Elevators, among others. They met and jammed with Mick Jagger, Charlie and Keith in a hotel room during the “Satisfaction” tour in 1965. Their songs became hits via Ron Chapman and KLIF and KBOX radio, all while they were teenagers in high school. Their songs included originals and covers of popular songs. Listen to these tracks and feel the nostalgia of the mid 60′s, from a band that seems duplicated in the Tom Hanks film “That Thing You Do!”.
